Beans & Rice Week, Here We Go...

I was talking to my son this morning about Rice and Beans week. He is such a great kid, he asked a great question, "Why"?
Why would we give up eating our normal food and eat only Rice & Beans when we have all this other food? My answer, what would you say if one of your friends came up to you and told you their Nana died? That is all it took!!! He got it. But of course I didn't stop there. I asked him " what if your friends house burnt down"? He said, "I would feel bad, but I wouldn't really understand because I have never experienced that". (Thanks Cindy May for the idea).
He understood that we have never experieced starving or not having variety, we have so much, how could we understand.
So, even though most people start things on Mondays, we are not most people, we will start in the middle of the week! Great fun! We will be praying for the poor, asking God to intervien with His people that he has blessed to be a blessing, (that is us, the belivers who have much). We will be doing this for our sister in Christ, Katie who is living out servant hood in Uganda to a bizillion children and only eating "beans and rice". http://kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com
We will be doing this for the our brothers and sisters in Uganda http://rememberthepoor.info
We will be doing this in the name of Christ who says: Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow… Matt 6:25-33
If you would like to join us on yet another challange, please let me know we can share our testimonies together when we are done. Better yet, we can share the answers to prayer that obediance brings!!
God does not expect us to argue with Him when He tells us to do something. He doesn’t expect us to apply human logic to our circumstances. He simply expects us to obey and trust Him. I have found that whenever we step out in obedience to God’s voice, miracles follow~ Brother Yun, Living Water
So here’s the Rice & Bean Extravaganza of Love: Eat rice and beans, and drink water only, at every meal for a full 7 days. Here’s the top 10 reasons to do so:

10. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality.* 2 Corinthians 8:14

9. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:12-13

20 pound bag of rice- $8

8. Giving is fun. It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35

7. I (Jesus) have compassion on the crowd…and I am unwilling to send them away hungry… Matthew 15:32

6. And he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. 2 Corinthians 5:15

5. We will likely Remember The Poor every time we eat. Galatians 2:10

4. For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13

3. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Corinthians 4:17

2. Whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord. Ephesians 6:8

1. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love on another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”John 13:34-35
We will be starting on Saturday!!

Hey there friends. I will be praying for you all that this will teach much. I will also pray that you are protected from anything that would get in the way of this journey.

Loving you,
